Summer Internship Program

Pursuing life and mission with Jesus means that we want to replicate Jesus’ model of discipleship. One of the many ways we do this is through our summer internship program, designed to give college students the opportunity to serve, study, and lead alongside the staff at Fellowship Greenville.

This eleven-week program includes having interns in our following ministries: FG Kids, Student, Pastoral, Missional Impact, Worship, Communications/Media,  AV/Tech, Events/Connections, Care, and Community Groups.

While our ministry supervisors will help each specific intern with their daily and weekly responsibilities, the interns also collectively gather three mornings each week for classes on various topics such as the gospel, leadership, mission, worship, and more. Our desire is to help equip college students to think well about Jesus and his church in both theological and practical ways.

This summer experience is a perfect context for college students to be discipled and grow in their  understanding of what it looks like to be the church. Fellowship Greenville’s internship is for applicants who exemplify a desire for Christ-likeness and love for the church who feel called to formal church ministry.

Applicants must have completed one year of college or be 19 or older, reside in the U.S., and support the mission and vision of Fellowship Greenville.

Yes. However, this is a full-time job that requires all of your time, energy, and passion in order to get the desired experience. Additional jobs cannot interfere in any way with your internship schedule or responsibilities.
No. This internship is designed to help equip possible future leaders in the church regardless of your church attendance and membership outside of your summer with us.
The program runs from the third Sunday of May through the last day of July. You must be available to begin the program on the start date and work through to the end date.
Yes, however, no more than two interns can be gone the same week; therefore, vacation is on a "first-come, first-serve" basis and must be approved prior to the start of the program. No vacation will be granted during the first or last week of the program. Please see the FG Intern Vacation Policy for further details.
The average week during the internship will include classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Outside of these times, each intern will report to their respective supervisor(s) for their daily and weekly responsibilities. Your days may be filled with planning for events, prepping to teach, learning in meetings, serving on Sunday mornings, encouraging volunteers, engaging with our staff, or dozens of other possibilities depending on the area of ministry in which you will serve.

What are the expectations of the interns?

Each intern will be expected to:

  • Be involved in church life for approximately 30-35 hours per week (including attendance at one of our weekly gatherings on Sunday morning).
  • Attend a retreat at the beginning of the summer (to prepare them) and the end of the summer (to debrief with them) concerning their internship experience.
  • Attend classes every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30-10:00 am, covering a range of topics (i.e. gospel, leadership, worship, marriage, etc).
  • Report to their specific ministry leader(s) for tasks and assignments throughout the week outside of their corporate expectations on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • Complete a Meeting Attendance Record and an Interview Record that will help them continue to think about church life from the perspective of the different ministries within the church.
