PRAYER REQUESTS

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". Psalm 46:1

  • Please see the Global News Opportunity to Pray section regarding prayer for Covid-19!
  • Praises for Kathy Firme as she received a report that her margins and lymph nodes were clear. Pray for clarity as she has a future radiation oncology appointment.
  • Prayers for Phoenix (the 7 month old daughter of Matt and Ashly Tomlinson) who has surgery this Friday morning to repair a left ventricular enlargement and murmur at MUSC.
  • Lynnette Ramos is suffering from upper back spine pain. She would like prayers for her kids Peter, Marylin, Giovanni, and Imani. Pray for health, peace and comfort. Her grandmother is also in a hospital in New York.
  • Susan the mother of Rachelle Adams is having open heart surgery at MUSC. She is alone and no one allowed to visit during this scary time.
GLOBAL NEWS OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY: Covid-19 Situation

As we continue to navigate Covid-19 as a community, let's remember to pray for all those affected worldwide. Here are a few different groups we can be praying for this week in particular!

  • Pray for our church family to figure out the best ways to continue to love those around us.
  • Pray for all those working in the hospitals! This includes doctors, nurses, hospital sanitization workers, and more!
  • Pray for those who have suddenly found themselves unemployed. Please pray for peace and direction for them.
  • Pray for global mission workers who are on the frontline of the pandemic.
  • Pray that the spread of this virus will plateau, decrease, and then stop.

MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT: George & Debbie Collins

Both George and Debbie Collins were born in Michigan. Debbie was raised as a missionary kid in the country of Bangladesh before meeting George at Cornerstone University. The Collins family first served for 10 years as missionaries in Bangladesh. Since the early 1990s, they have been serving with Live Global (formerly Global Access Partnerships or GAP), a ministry of ABWE, primarily in restricted-access nations. George consults with many North American churches regarding ways to effectively partner with our brothers and sisters in church planting and leadership training. The couple has three grown sons (Philip, David, and Benjamin). Benjamin serves as a missionary in Bangkok, Thailand.

Way to Pray: Dr. Mung in Myanmar is working on the Zomi Bible translation. His team has translated, published, and distributed the New Testament with the target to finish the whole Bible in 2020. Please pray for some of our colleagues who have had ongoing visa issues in three of the countries Live Global serves in.

OPPORTUNITY: to Pray

Please pray for our local partner Miracle Hill as they have been asked to provide space for and care for people who have tested positive for Covid-19. Pray for the volunteers that have stepped into this environment that they will stay healthy and positive and that they will be a light to all those they serve.

MISSIONARY AND PARTNER UPDATES
  • Please pray for the Foths (who have only been in Australia a few months) to be able to gain community and get connected. They had just started to get connected to a new church and new coworkers when the Covid-19 crisis began. Since then, they have not been able to get plugged in as they had hoped. Pray especially for their young daughters to be encouraged during this time in a new home!
  • The Shepperson girls have made plans of where to stay through the summer since they cannot stay at school or go back to Slovakia. Please pray for them and the rest of their family as they are away from each other and navigating this time.
  • Pray for Christina Wells as she discerns some next steps in ministry. Please also pray for her pastor's mom who has tested positive for the virus and is feeling really hopeless right now.
  • Pray for Patrick Emery to encourage those he leads to spend their time well so they don't get exhausted. Please also pray for his family as they face different anxieties.
OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE: Harvest Hope

Harvest Hope is very busy in the emergency food pantry, and expects to continue to be as we all live out this health crisis. Over the last few weeks, they have served over 27,000 individuals right here in Greenville County. They are looking for volunteers to continue to help with their ‘drive-thru’ limited pantry service through the rest of the month. More information and access to sign up can be found on their website

If you are healthy and have the availability to serve, this will be a great opportunity to love others by providing food for those who may not be able to get to the grocery store and stock up.
