GLOBAL NEWS OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY: China
"One Chinese city is now offering to pay for information on anyone involved in 'illegal religious activities.' Authorities in Guangzhou have offered rewards equaling as much as $1,500 to those reporting the activities. The largest rewards are paid for information leading to the arrest of foreign religious leaders, while smaller amounts will be paid for tips leading to the closure of a foreign religious group. One Christian told the China Aid Association that the announcement prompted his group to stop distributing Christian leaflets in public. (via icommittopray.com)." Source: Voice of the Martyrs
Way to Pray: Pray for Christians in Guangzhou as the government continues its crackdown on religious institutions that do not submit to the Communist Party.
MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT: Emery
Patrick and April Emery serve with Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO), an organization that strives to "transform college students to transform the world." Patrick has been a part of CCO's Experiential Design team for 10 years. As part of this team, he specializes in facilitating team building as well as leading wilderness trips which help students learn more about God, themselves, and others. Patrick and April reside in Poland, Ohio, with their three children: Grace, Abigail, and Gabe.
Way to Pray: Patrick Emery asks for prayer for the CCO as they transition to being a national organization. Having staff located from FL to CA is exciting but is also presenting them with many new challenges. Specifically, pray for wisdom for the leadership as they write a ministry playbook that will have significant implications for how ministry plays out among the staff.
OPPORTUNITY: to Volunteer
On May 12th and 19th, there will be a signup table in the commons if you would like to volunteer for the BMW Golf Tournament. The cost is $40, and 50% will be donated to Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). The remainder will go towards the cost of the t-shirt, the visor, and the food you will be given for volunteering. If you love golf and you're looking for a serving opportunity, this is it! To volunteer, print the volunteer application and drop off at our signup table either Sunday.
