GLOBAL NEWS OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY: India

"Anantram Gondi, a farmer in Odisha state, India, was murdered recently for refusing to return to Hinduism. He and his wife, Sukbati, had come to faith in Christ in 2018 and were active in their church. According to a Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) partner, villagers shunned them and their five children as a result of their new faith, even cutting off utilities to their home. Members of a Communist political party in the region, the Naxalites, warned Anantram to return to Hinduism and even beat him, but he refused to leave Christ. Finally, they dragged him from his home one evening, and his body was found lying along the roadside the next day. The Naxalites had shot him in the head and left a note warning others against following Christ. 'It will be difficult to take care of five children and lead our life without him,' Sukbati said, 'but I will not give up on Jesus.' The family has relocated to a safer place. Pray for their protection and that they will remain faithful to the Lord (via icommittopray.com)." Source: Voice of the Martyrs

Way to Pray: Please pray for believers in India who are persecuted every day for following Jesus, that they will remain strong and encouraged in their faith.

MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT: Davis

Roderick Davis, the executive director of T.E.A.R.S. Ministries (True Evangelism Always Requires Sacrifice), spent 16 years in urban ministry in the U.S. before God called him to the ghettos of the Dominican Republic and Haiti in 1995. Through T.E.A.R.S. Rod has founded a 400-student school in the Dominican and a 100-student in Haiti. He's also planted 28 Haitian churches and is directing a missionary intern program and several social service outreaches that include a water purification center, a clothing distribution center, and a housing resource center. His team has also hosted numerous short-term mission teams from the U.S. and Canada. Rod and his wife Twila have been married nearly 30 years and have two grown children, Shekinah and Isaac, all who have played a significant role in the ministry.

Way to Pray: Please pray for a "grace awakening" for the people in their churches and communities, as the vast majority of them come from a Catholic background and struggle with a works-based view. Rod also has had two major back surgeries this past year, so please pray for his continued healing and strength.

OPPORTUNITY: to Attend

  • Please pray for Scott McCracken's friend, Mr. Ali, as he is battling multiple myeloma. More importantly, pray for Mr. Ali's spiritual health. Scott's hope is that God would open his friend's eyes that he might trust in Jesus.
  • John Mark Sheppard has recently made great progress in translating several chapters in 1 and 2 Kings into the Manya language. He has also worked with an organization in the states to develop a mobile app that contains the text and audio of the translations.
