Kingdom Parables

Charlie Boyd - 7/12/2015

We continue in our summer series entitled, "Kingdom Parables: Keep Looking Until You See". Jesus told parables to make people think about how life in God’s kingdom under God’s reign was different than how we normally go about life. Parables have the capacity to challenge and change the way we usually think about God, life, and faith, and the only way to understand a parable is to keep looking until you see and to keep listening until you hear. In this message, we read about the Parable of the Mustard Seed and the Leaven. If the presence of the Kingdom of God in the world today is like a like a tiny mustard seed sown in the dirt, or like yeast hidden in a lump of dough, how then do we live as followers of Jesus? We need to train our eyes to see God’s kingdom breaking into this world and into our lives in the small, hidden things that we hardly notice. Big life-changing things can grow out of those small things.
