Abiding in the Word

Jesus told his disciples, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7 ESV). Abiding with Jesus and having his words abide in us conditions the Christian life and ministry through an intimate, conversational relationship with Jesus. This workshop’s objective is to give you key tools that will further enable you to have extended, in-depth conversations with the word of God by spending more time in smaller sections of Scripture. Each week explores different and deeper ways to understand God’s Word.

  • Week One: Unpack some methods for immersing ourselves in a biblical story,
  • Week Two: Discuss how to stroll -not scroll- through biblical poetry with an understanding of how Hebrew poetry is composed.
  • Week Three: Unpack some tools for understanding a parable.

In order for God’s word to abide in us, we have to dwell in it long enough for it to move from living words on a page to the living word guiding our hearts. If your desire is for God’s word to abide in you, join us on the Sundays of October 19th, 26th, and November 2nd from 10:45 am until 12:15 pm in Room 220.
