"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". Psalm 46:1
"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land". 2 Chronicles 7:14
The Prayer Team is actively looking for individuals who would like to minister to our congregation by meeting with those who need prayer following the Sunday services. Volunteers are on duty once a month for one service. At this time, we particularly have a need for the following weeks/services: 1st Sunday/2nd Service, and 3rd Sunday/2nd Service. If you are interested in serving with the Prayer Team, please contact Rebecca Cooke at 864-385-3368 or rcooke@fellowshipgreenville.org.

"The Communist government, in conjunction with Buddhist monks, persecutes Christians, with the exception of the government-controlled Lao Evangelical Church. Poverty, lack of infrastructure and mountainous terrain make evangelistic outreach challenging. Thanks to bold evangelists, churches continue to grow even as they experience ongoing persecution.
Some in Laos, particularly those in government leadership, view Christianity as a foreign religion and a tool used by the West to undermine the Communist Laotian regime. There are many house churches and some church buildings, but the vast majority do not have a trained pastor. Laotian authorities sometimes arrest Christians and detain them for up to a week in attempts to control Christian activity. Christians are commonly denied medical treatment as well as educational and other social services." Via: Voice of the Martyrs
Way to pray: Many churches in Laos do not have a trained pastor. Pray that God will raise up a new generation of church leaders. Pray for outreach efforts among Buddhist monks, who persecute Christians alongside the Communist government.
Jose Alvarez trusted Jesus as a college senior at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. He was baptized by his future father-in-law in 1980, whose daughter, Michelle, he married in 1981.
Married for 41 years, Michelle and Jose have 3 adult children (two are married) and 2 granddaughters Lucy & Coco, and 2 grandsons Shepherd & Arnie. They speak together in marriage conferences around the country for over 25 years and also provide marital and premarital counseling in the Upstate. Since 1988 they’ve lived in Greenville, South Carolina.
Jose has been on several mission trips to Korea and Cuba using his past baseball experience to introduce people to Jesus. He came on staff with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and served as a Life Coach and mentor to the PGA’s Korn Ferry Tour Players, wives, and caddies for 15 years. He was asked to pray about coming on staff with Links Players International in May 2022. After several months Jose & Michelle answered the call and began serving with Links on September 1, 2022. Currently, he is reaching those in country clubs in the Upstate of South Carolina.
Way to Pray: Please pray for Jose and Michelle's kids and grandkids with the different paths that they are on. Jose is busy building community at Greenville Country Club, Thornblade, and Legacy Pines. Pray as he builds these relationships that the men Jose interacts with will come to know Jesus personally.
Our partner, Adoption Helpers, offers childcare to foster, adoptive, and kinship families, and they do it in a trauma-informed way. They are looking to grow their volunteer base in order to serve more families in the upstate. If you would like to volunteer with them, the first step is to go through their volunteer training! They have a virtual training coming up on July 31 and an in-person training on August 9. Fore more information or to sign up, visit this link.
