"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". Psalm 46:1
"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land". 2 Chronicles 7:14
The Prayer Team is actively looking for individuals who would like to minister to our congregation by meeting with those who need prayer following the Sunday services. Volunteers are on duty once a month for one service. At this time, we particularly have a need for the following weeks/services: 1st Sunday/2nd Service, and 3rd Sunday/2nd Service. If you are interested in serving with the Prayer Team, please contact Rebecca Cooke at 864-385-3368 or rcooke@fellowshipgreenville.org.
Please pray for these other requests:
- Please pray for Phyllis Showvaker. Her sister, Rose, passed away a couple weeks ago, and Rose’s twin sister Ruth passed away a couple of months ago. Please pray for comfort and strength for Phyllis and her family.
- Sandra Bacu asks for prayer for the family of a friend who passed away last week from cancer. Please pray for her husband and son as they grieve.
- Drin Oliver asks for prayer for a friend who has been in the hospital for three weeks, trying to recover from surgery for a brain tumor. Please pray she would be healed and be able to go home.
- Please pray for Jennifer & Greg Barrows. Jennifer’s mother recently passed away.
- Please pray for Pat Spears, as she has been diagnosed with Stage 4, inoperable, pancreatic cancer. Seeking God’s wisdom and guidance in the steps to take. Trusting as they lean into Him for peace, protection and comfort in this journey, and that John, Eric and Pat give God all the glory.
- Greg Jackson asks for prayer for his mother, Sharon, who has stage 4 cancer. They recently found out that she has multiple tumors throughout her spine and a blockage in one of her kidneys. Please pray for healing and no surgery.
- Steve Martin is currently battling esophageal cancer. His wife, Cathy, is faithfully supporting him, though she is also grieving the loss of the life they shared before his diagnosis.
- David Stamps asks for his sinus/lung sickness to get better quickly.
- Emily Laird requests prayer for a chronic health issue that has been exacerbated by where she is staying. Please pray for the exacerbating factor to be resolved if it is the Lord’s will.
- Melody Bechard asks for prayer for her sister, who is going through chemo. Please pray that God would draw her to himself and for healing.
- Kayla Clark would like prayer for financial stability and for her husband to find work. She would also appreciate prayer for trust in the Lord and his plan despite circumstances.
"Turkmenistan is a profoundly restricted country in which Christian worship is limited to churches that are part of government-sanctioned denominations. Despite the restrictions, the gospel is proclaimed regularly through media and personal testimonies. Although Turkmenistan has a long history of isolation and dictatorship, the country has prospered economically because of its natural gas reserves and access to the Caspian Sea.
Churches meet openly, but they are closely monitored. Christians’ homes may be raided at any time by authorities searching for Christian literature. Some families worship together in secret. If the government learns of a Turkmen becoming a Christian, the new believer faces immediate harassment and pressure. It is also difficult for believers to travel outside the country for Christian training or encouragement." Via: Voice of the Martyrs
Way to pray: Pray that Christians will continue to gather despite severe restrictions on Christian worship. Pray for the wisdom of Turkmen who convert from Islam to Christianity. They face pressure and harassment.
Miriam Wheeler, MD, joined Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) in 1990 and as of 2019, is currently serving as ABWE's Medical Director of International Missionary Healthcare. For the past 20 years, Miriam served in Odessa, Ukraine where she cared for the medical needs in the small villages surrounding Odessa and Nikolaev and also shared her faith in Christ with people whose spiritual needs are great. Miriam's new role will allow her to serve with a more global impact from right here in the states. Miriam will continue to spend about 2-3 months in Ukraine every year and a portion of her support funds the medical ministry in Ukraine each month.
Miriam graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 1985 and completed her residency in Greenville, during which time she was a member of Fellowship Greenville. After joining ABWE, she served in a hospital ministry in Togo, West Africa until the Lord moved her to Ukraine in 1998.
Way to Pray: Wisdom for giving medical advice to ABWE missionaries around the world and counsel to ABWE administrators concerning healthcare needs. ABWE has 1000 missionaries in over 60 countries. Miriam needs an Associate Medical Director to help carry the load of her work. Please pray God brings along the right person. In Harrisburg PA - Please pray that God would give direction to my local church home regarding the start-up of a free medical clinic or something similar. In Ukraine - Pray for the salvation of village clinic patients, wisdom for Pastor Lonya and missionary FNP Holly Friesen as they direct the medical ministry.
