PRAYER REQUESTS

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". Psalm 46:1

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land". 2 Chronicles 7:14

  • Frank and Anne Fuller's son passed away last week in a plane accident. Josh Fuller was a 44 Navy Commander in Florida. Please be in prayer for this family!
  • Karen Thompson has requested prayer for her cousin, Jordan Hussey. Jordan has been diagnosed with stage three breast cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. Please pray for physical strength during chemo and healing for her body.
  • Please pray for Melissa and Michael Oostdyk. Melissa's father, Ronald Little went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 30, 2020. Please pray for Melissa and her family for peace and comfort during this time.
  • Greg Cornwell is on day 14 of chemo...his white blood cell count is up and either his body has started the healing process way earlier than expected or the chemo is not working. Greg has asked to pray they don't find Leukemia when he is tested again and that God is healing the body faster than they could imagine.
  • Please be in continued prayer for Kristen Mixson the neurologist delivered the news that her tumor was super rare, it is NOT CANCEROUS, they were able to get at least 75% of it in surgery, and that she will most likely not need radiation!! Praise Jesus!!
  • Please continue to pray for Austin Somerville. He is making amazing strides at the Shepherd Rehab Center in Atlanta. He and Kasie (his mother) continue to witness to those around them and bring people to the Lord!
GLOBAL NEWS OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY: The World
  • As we continue to navigate Covid-19 as a community, let's remember to pray for all those affected worldwide. Pray for those in under-developed countries or areas with poor access to healthcare, health-care workers, and those sick from the virus.
  • A security guard at one of the Set Free Alliance campuses has tested positive for Corona Virus. The next several days they will be testing all of the children living on campus (about 1500). Please pray that the virus has not spread and please pray for quick healing for the security guard.
  • Pray for our black brothers and sisters who are hurting right now. Pray for the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others who have been killed due to racial violence.
  • Over the last 27 years, Pastor Hamid Shabanov has been arrested three times and heavily fined for having a small, unregistered house church in rural Azerbaijan. At a recent meeting at the US Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan, with Pastor Shabanov, we were thrilled to learn that recently the Azeri government granted his church permission to meet on Saturdays for two hours! Pastor Shabanov and the church are rejoicing over this victory and are very grateful for all who prayed for them. (Via: Frontline Missions)

MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT: Gfeller

In the summer of 2017, Chad and Cherry Gfeller transitioned to Berlin, Germany to begin work with refugees. Their vision for ministry is to shine the light of the gospel to the men, women, and children of Germany's great city of refuge and their ministry focuses on using the avenue of sports to reach Syrian refugees in the city.

With the rise of the refugee crisis in Europe, God moved the Gfellers to answer a call to work with Berlin Ministries International to coordinate outreach to refugee communities. The Gfellers use weekly sports ministry to help local churches bridge into these communities with the goal of starting Bible studies and connecting new believers with existing or new fellowships. They are working on developing an effective model that can be shared with churches around Europe to help them engage their communities with the gospel in a culturally relevant way. The Gfellers have two daughters, Quinn and Gracie.

Way to Pray: Pray for wisdom as we seek to encourage a culture of discipleship with churches in Berlin and motivate believers to live missional lives. Pray for wisdom as we plan a strategy to reach into new communities by using soccer as a bridge with young families.

MISSIONARY AND PARTNER UPDATES
  • Miriam Wheeler had plans to travel go to Ukraine for a few weeks this fall, but is trying to discern if that is the best option at this time. Pray for discernment for her.
  • Pray for the Gfeller family as they continue to learn the German language. Learning the language well will continue to open doors for them to serve well. Please pray that they are able to learn it well and use it as a powerful tool to serve others.
  • Pray for the Shepperson family and their Josiah Venture team as they prepare for camps this summer. They will look a little different this year, but they are excited to be able to do the camps.
