PRAYER REQUESTS

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". Psalm 46:1

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land". 2 Chronicles 7:14

  • Please be praying for John Philips, the brother of Michelle Alvarez, he is still overcoming injuries from a wreck.
  • Rose Hazen had a second stroke this month and then fell and bruised her hips. She is really struggling with mobility.
  • Please pray for Mark Preddy who is struggling with health issues.

  • Steven Donaghy is really struggling with anxiety and worry.

GLOBAL NEWS OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY: MIDDLE EAST & NORTHERN AFRICA

"There has been an explosion of conversions and baptisms within the Middle East & Northern Africa (MENA) region as so many men and women decide to give their life to Christ. These baptisms must often be done in secret, without drawing any attention to what is happening. They don't want the authorities to know, so they keep the news under wraps and find hidden moments to make their conversion a reality.

Much like our Ananias House's Frontline worker baptizing these new believers, countless more invest time and risk much to be disciples of Jesus making disciples." (via: Ananias House)

Way to Pray: Ananias House asks for prayer specifically for the work in Morocco. Pray for a strong foundation in the Word of God - access to, passion for, understanding of, and transformation by. Pray for God to work through the government for the good of believers and the people of Morocco. Pray for Moroccan Christians to be legally recognized and able to worship, evangelize, and disciple freely.

MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT: CHRISTY

Ed and Sylvia Christy have been working to plant churches in the Bordeaux region of France since 1990 with Baptist Mid-Missions. They have found many opportunities as well as faced great challenges in establishing a strong community of Christ-followers. Their first church plant now has its own French pastor and building. Currently, the Christys are launching a new church in St. Medard-en-Jalles. Ed and Sylvia have two grown children: Grant, who is an accountant in Paris, and Jana, who lives with her husband and children in France.

Way to Pray: The Christys need a larger meeting place for their church that satisfies safety codes, parking requirements, and is within budget. The Christys would love to see new French laborers for the harvest as well as new missionaries come alongside them. Please also pray for Sylvia as she cares for her aging parents from afar. Pray for wisdom, strength, and patience.

OPPORTUNITY: MISSIONARY MEET & GREET

The Lord called Joy Anglea into missions in 1996, after working as a family physician for 13 years in Greenville and while a member at Fellowship Greenville. She first served as a missionary on the island of Guam, reaching into Micronesia with medical mission teams, until she was called to serve as the Medical Director at the home office of Baptist Mid-Missions in Cleveland, OH. She has a variety of ministries, including organizing medical mission teams to various countries, assisting missionaries with their health needs, and serving on the crisis management team for the mission family.

This Sunday, September 25, Joy Anglea will be with us in the commons. Stop by the table to encourage her and learn a bit more about her years in medical missions!

OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE: OLX

Our friends at OneLife X reached out about a need that they have in September and October. They have several upcoming weekend events and they are looking for people to help with food prep at their Marietta Campus on Thursdays from 1–5 p.m. This would be a great opportunity to get to interact with the students and be a positive influence. They are currently looking for at least two volunteers per day for the following dates:

  • Sept 29 (the 29th is their biggest need)
  • Oct 6, 13, 20, 27
